Salary: €60,000
Location: Essen, Germany
Position: Permanent
A Financial Controller is required to be responsible for all German finance, payroll and accounting functions, ensuring all reporting deadlines are met and adherence to relevant accounting legislation. With strong all round accounting experience, including Forecasting, Cashflow and Budget processes, the Financial Controller will be a ‘hands on’ person with a ‘can do’ attitude’ as well as being fluent in German and English. The Financial Controller will set and achieve financial targets in consultation with the Country Head and European Finance Director.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Set and achieve financial targets in consultation with the Country Head and European Finance Director
• Keep effective and accurate records all of the company’s accounting and payroll records for Germany
• Ensure all Germany accounting requirements are met
• Forecasts, cashflows and ad hoc reporting required by line managers
• Completion of monthly, quarterly and year end audit and statutory financials for Germany
• Deeply involved in Budget and forecast processes
• VAT returns
• Liaising with external accountants, banks and any other third party as required
• Oversee payroll function for both salaried and hourly employees within Germany
• Continued training and development of the team to maintain current standard
• Month end journals, cash books and balance sheet reconciliation
• Intercompany reconciliation
• Strong analytical skills
Key Skills and Candidate Requirements:
Strong all round accounting experience and competence
Strong management experience
Self-motivated and be able to work on own initiative
Be able to work with minimal supervision and to tight reporting deadlines
Neat, methodical and professional approach to work
Good communicator
Team player
Training, development and supervision of staff
Flexible attitude
Must be fluent in German & English Language
