Deputy Nurse Manager
Locations: Somerton and Taunton, Somerset
Salary: £28,432
We are looking to recruit two Deputy Nurse Managers for our client’s care homes in Somerton and Taunton. The Deputy Nurse Manager will co-ordinate the nursing and the care practice, ensure that staff provide high quality care for their residents and provide nursing procedures to meet the clinical needs of the residents. The Deputy Nurse Manager will also liaise with families and other professionals, such as a GP, Social Worker and District Nurse.
Role:
• Lead and co-ordinate the nursing and the care practice within the home and provide services which can respond flexibly to the needs of the residents.
• Ensure that staff provide high quality care for our residents within the Company’s Quality Assurance framework.
• Ensure proactive income generation to meet and exceed Company targets and maintain high levels of occupancy within the home.
• Ensure that staff work to the defined Company quality standards and ensure that statutory requirements and Company policy and procedures are implemented.
• Work within a regulatory framework.
• Liaise with families and other professionals, such as a GP, Social Worker and District Nurse.
• Maintain your CPD (preps).
• Provide nursing procedures to meet clinical needs of the residents.
Key tasks:
Staffing:
• Delegate and oversee all clinical practice and procedures.
• Undertake the delegated appraisals and the effective supervision for all your staff team.
• Responsible, as part of the senior team for the leading, directing and managing of staff whilst running the shift.
• Work with the Nurse Manager to recruit, retain maintain and develop an effective staff team to create a good skill mix.
• Ensure appropriate staffing numbers are met on each shift utilising base resources.
• Enthuse and lead the staff to promote social events to maintain involvement in the Community.
• Manage and address poor practice and deal with disciplinary issues.
Customer Care:
• Ensure that a person centred approach is adopted to meet the identified needs of the individual.
• Maintain necessary records and participate in the residents care planning, goal setting and resident reviews.
• Responsible for the safety and well being of the residents, staff and visitors to the home.
Policies & Procedures:
• Ensure the Company audits are completed and action plans formulated.
• Respond to Company reporting procedures and produce reports as requested.
• Implement the Company's policy in relation to the safe storage, handling and recording of medicines and treatments.
• Respond and implement requirements made by the regulators of the Care Service
• Respond and cooperate with the Vulnerable Adult framework.
Other:
• Contribute, implement and maintain the Company Strategic plan.
• Promote the ethos of Investors in People in your staff teams.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
• Be proactive to maintain the profile of the home in the Community.
• Work with the Company maintenance team to ensure the upkeep and character of the building and external grounds are maintained.
• Attend meetings, training courses and follow-up refresher courses as required to maintain and enhance your registration.
• Maintain a professional and hygienic appearance.
• Work in line with the policy on Infection Prevention and Control, according to your role.
