Our Client is currently seeking candidate applications for the position of DAMA / UHF Specialist to be based either in Kabul or at Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan to interface with end users in ISAF, Area of Operations (AOOs) and respond to UHF space segment satellite access request (SARs), i.e. staffing Satellite Access Authorization.
The successful candidate will send out UHF satellite access authorizations or satellite access denials as appropriate. You will establish, publish and maintain a DAMA Terminal Base Address database for ISAF etc.
You will conduct UHF SATCOM DAMA network planning and will establish and update a ViaSat Network Channel Controller UHF DAMA database and will liaise with ISAF.
You will co-ordinate and be an active participant in the drafting and revisions of UHF OSI and Standard Operating Frameworks.
You will trouble shoot any potential issues with the interim UHF DAMA controller via direct consultation with the appropriate points of contact.
Finally you will provide assistance and technical advice to various personnel maintaining and operating alternate DAMA controller and deployed DAMA controllers.
The successful candidate will be accomplished in UHFD SCPC and DAMA operations, equipment, procedures and methods and in terms of nationality must come from a NATO Member country.
You will be able to prove successful completion of higher education and advanced vocational training in the field of Satellite Communication Systems or telecommunications / electronic engineering.
You should have experience with Military Deployable SATCOM Systems and completed formal training on the ViaSat Network Channel Controller (VNCC) for Demand Assigned Multiple Access (DAMA) Ultra High Frequency (UHF) network control, and ViaSat Application Training.
You will have assigned Multiple Access (DAMA) Ultra High Frequency (UHF) network control, and ViaSat Application Training and completed formal training on the Harris RF Communications Corporation AN/PRC-I I7F UHF DAMA SATCOM radio.
You will have experience as a UHF DAMA radio operator and with UHF DAMA network control, plus troubleshooting, relative to those of a military field environment.
You should have professional experience in the area of satellite access requests (SARs) and satellite access authorizations (SAAs) and experience in UHF DAMA satellite trouble shooting relative to those of a military field environment.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and excellent presentation skills and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
Finally you should be PC / IT literate and possess a Drivers Licence.
Candidates should ideally have NATO Secret Clearance or their own national country security clearance.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished UHF DAMA professional looking for something different.
The position is offered on a 1 year renewable contract. Please note in terms of nationality, Candidates must come from a NATO member country.
In addition to a negotiated basic salary which for an Ex-Patriate employee will be tax free the work rota will be 290 days worked indicating 8 weeks on and 2 weeks off.
