Job Title: Project Engineer

Introduction:
Our Client is a world-class manufacturer of aircraft lighting systems used on both military and commercial aircraft, data-capture products and specialist electronic components. Lighting systems are based on LED technology with analogue and digital electronics to control electrical, optical and thermal performance.
Reporting to the Avionics Development Programme Manager, our client now requires a Project Engineer to implement techniques to lead and deliver a range of projects and their associated activities on time and to budget. The Project Engineer will support the Avionics Development Management team in reporting project progress and understanding and influencing project issues.
Responsibilities:
- Project manage one or more of the projects running through the Avionics Development department.
- Act as the main point of contact for the customer and other internal departments on the projects assigned.
- Organise, chair and minute all project/gate and design reviews on the projects assigned.
- Monitor and regularly report project status in terms of issues, schedule and cost to the department's management.
- Create and maintain up to date Project files and documentation registers for the assigned projects.
- Develop and maintain Microsoft Project plans for each assigned project.
- Liaise with the design teams (Mechanical, Optical and Electronics) to ensure that the required tasks are produced in a timely manner.
- Identify suppliers and place requisitions for all the required development / prototype / qualification parts or components and book test houses / equipment as necessary.
- Identify and manage all risks and opportunities associated with the assigned projects, including maintenance of a project risk register and regular reviews thereof.
Candidate Requirements:
- APM Introductory Certificate in Project Management
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Project
- Ability to follow and police prescribed business processes
- Understanding of the design and manufacturing industry
