Introduction:
Our Client is a world-class manufacturer of aircraft lighting systems used on both military and commercial aircraft, data-capture products and specialist electronic components. Lighting systems are based on LED technology with analogue and digital electronics to control electrical, optical and thermal performance.
A pro-active candidate from a technical sales background is required to join the internal sales and marketing team to take over responsibility for business development in two significant areas of our client's business.
Our Client now has a requirement for a pro-active sales engineer or technical sales executive to join the internal sales team to take over responsibility for major bids with particular focus on night vision compatible lighting, LED lighting and data capture systems.
This is a varied role that is required to convert both low and high value prospects into sales and will extend into bids covering components for Defence, Aerospace and other developing markets.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Sales Office Manager your responsibilities will require you to;
- Identify and pursue new and existing business opportunities for both new and existing products
- Liaise with internal departments on technical, design, lead-time and supply matters
- Assume responsibility for major bids in support of the International Sales Manager
- Assume responsibility for specified, major key accounts
- Visit customers to discuss technical issues and to understand their requirements
- Support International Sales Manager as required on technical sales activities
Candidate Requirements:
- It is anticipated that the successful candidate will hold a degree/HND in a physical science, engineering or optics discipline
- Experience within a sales role is essential.
- Knowledge of Night Vision Goggles, LEDs, lighting or asset management would be of an advantage
- Knowledge of Defence Forces and equipment manufacturers is essential
- Good knowledge of preparing commercial and technical bids
- Previous experience working with European Sales distribution/representative organisations.
- Proficiency with MS Office packages.
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to develop and maintain good customer relations whilst maintaining customer records.
It is expected that the successful candidate will spend 3 to 4 days per week based in the office and an average of 1 day per week visiting customers in the UK / Europe however this balance may change as the role develops. Travel in UK and abroad will be required.
