Introduction:
Our client is a leading provider of maintenance service to the UK rail industry and now immediately required an additional Shift Delivery Controller.

As a Shift Delivery Controller you will work in a central operations room in Hither Green (South East London) monitoring our client's maintenance teams and engineering assets.  Due to the nature of this work the majority of the rail track engineering is completed during unsociable hours and therefore the successful candidate must be willing to carry out shifts both at night, weekends and bank holidays.

The basic salary is £28,000 but due to hours worked and the shift pattern your OTE are Circa £40,000.  Our client ultimately requires an individual with excellent communications skills who is able to make decisions in what is sometimes a difficult and pressurized environment.

My client does not necessarily require a person with a rail background, although this would be an advantage, as training will be provided for the right person.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include the following:
- Monitor work rosters and resolve problems.
- Maintain regular contact with all engineering operators out on the railway network, ensuring any problems are followed up and resolved effectively.
- Motivate and encourage engineers.
- Ensure the day to day utilization and operation of machines is carried out effectively.
- Provide feedback on safety and performance issues.
- Carry out site visits and additional work place monitoring.
- Ensure information regarding performance and safety is up to date.
- Be willing to work a 24/7 roster pattern including regular nights weekend and bank holidays.
- Work effectively as a member of a small dedicated team.
- Complete paper work accurately.

- Be able to make sensible, logical decisions in a pressurised environment.
- Experience of managing staff.
